Batelco is a telecommunications company and a leading digital solutions provider in Bahrain. In line with Bahrain’s 2030 vision of a digitized economy, Batelco launched Smart Property as a part of its IoT digital solutions. With COCO, Batelco stepped up its strategy to move beyond its core business into non-telecom adjacent businesses. Smart Property became a strategic move, leveraging an existing customer that traditionally brought broadband solutions and upselling to them IoT solutions. They also explored a B2B market in the real estate sector, addressing the needs of property owners, builders, and their tenants.

The Bahrain Real estate and rental market is unique. Rentals not only include the property, but also a few services such as the internet, capped power bill, etc. Batelco was keen on delivering a scalable Smart Home solution as a new line of business to tenants of smart properties.
